Discover Canonteign Falls Today!

People are often attracted to the wonderful south Devon countryside because it’s rife with amazing photography and painting opportunities – and Canonteign Falls near Chudleigh is certainly one of the biggest draws in this regard.

There are two sets of waterfalls to be found here – the natural falls that have been in the secluded valley for goodness knows how long, and the Lady Exmouth Falls that were created way back in 1890 by local miners under the supervision of Lady Susan Exmouth after the workers were made redundant when the estate’s silver mines were closed.

You can climb all the way to the top, where you’ll come across some of the very best views to be found in this part of the county and then if you follow the path onwards you’ll come across several lakes, a bee garden, an orchard and a zip wire and mini assault course.

While there is lots to see and do here, from paying a visit to see some giant bunny rabbits or Hector the estate’s Harlequin Great Dane, it’s really the waterfalls themselves that are truly a sight to behold. If you don’t make time to pay them a visit while on holiday in Devon, you’re sure to regret it – so make sure it’s included in your trip itinerary!

We know you’ll be suitably inspired to get out your watercolours and paint the beautiful falls. Once you’ve finished your masterpiece, come to see us at our Devon art gallery so you can show us your representation of one of the county’s most beautiful natural wonders.
